What I'm Reading

STORIES I’VE READ AND ENJOYED THIS MONTH

As profiled in my newsletter.

December 2021

Amor Actually

ADRIANA HERRERA, ALEXIS DARIA, MIA SOSA, AND MORE

Nochebuena. One party. Nine Happily Ever Afters.

I am loving this collection of stories inspired by the movie Love Actually written by seven bestselling Latina authors. I actually HATE the movie, but these stories are a delightful and refreshing spin on the general plot lines through the movie. There's a variety of pairings here: m/f, m/m, f/f, and m/m/f. So far, the ones by Adriana Herrera, Alexis Daria, and Mia Sosa are my favorites, but I haven't finished them all yet.

Rake I’d Like to F…

SIERRA SIMONE, JOANNA SHUPE, EVA LEIGH, NICOLA DAVIDSON, ADRIANA HERRERA

I preordered a paperback version of this anthology and spent Christmas morning reading the first story in front of the wood stove. As always, Sierra Simone delivers a scorching hot, filthy bit of sweetness with a pair of damaged, yet lovable, characters who deserve their HEA. This anthology also has a variety of pairings (no f/f here, though, sadly).

And more Adriana Herrera to read! Hooray!

Total Creative Control

JOANNA CHAMBERS & SALLY MALCOLM

This was delightul! A grumpy head writer of a hit TV show and the sunshine PA who's a huge fanboy and develops a major crush on his demanding, rude, oblivious boss.

I'm a fan of both authors and have read several of their books, but this is (I think) the first book they've written together. They clearly had such fun writing it and I loved reading every moment of it.

And the PA writes fanfic on the side, which ends up being important to the plot. I similarly started writing by writing fanfic (and I still read it!) and I loved the snippets of the PA's fanfic we get in the book.
