What I'm Reading

STORIES I’VE READ AND ENJOYED THIS MONTH

As profiled in my newsletter.

Ripples and Waves

L.A. WITT

My favorite fairy tale has always been The Little Mermaid and the Hans Christian Andersen version is dark as fuck. This book is much, much lighter and actually ends in a HEA (unlike the poor mermaid in the original). I saw the ending coming a fathom away (heh!) but it was a light, easy read.

Also, it's set in a small lobstering village in Maine! Well, it's set in Bar Harbor and there definitely other coastal villages that have more lobsters than tourists (like the one I live in) but hey! Maine! Lobster! Gay mermaids!

Enemies of the State

TAL BAUER

A rogue Black Ops unit with the president in their crosshairs.
A Secret Service agent who will break every rule.
A president falling for the one person he shouldn’t—a man.

I started this one partly as research for the super-secret project I'm working on with a friend. Because don't you think the world needs more books about gay Presidents of the United States? I do! That's all I can say about the new project and all I can say about this book, because I'm just beginning it, but I'm looking forward to both!
