Remember when I said I'm reading all the paranormal and horror books? I got this one from Sierra Simone's newsletter and while I've barely started it, I'm disturbingly excited about it.

It is dark, like D-A-R-K. I read the content warnings on the author's website and am a little embarrassed to admit that they worked more like a shopping list in my head than a warning, but I like my sapphic gothic horror reads like I like my...you know what? I'm not going to finish that sentence. You all don't need to know everything about me. 😳

A while back, a member of the Eight Arms Reading Room recommended this series. It took me a bit to get around to reading it, but then I discovered it was in Kobo Plus and I tore through this book and the next book, Moonlight Phoenixes.

Amory lives a quiet life as a waiter. The Moonlight Diner is the home he found after he was kicked out and disowned by his family for no other crime than who he loves.

Amory's life is shaken to its very foundations after a chance meeting that has Amory witness a murder--except the man who dies in Amory's arms doesn't stay dead.

Far from being a ghost, Soyer is very real. He pulls Amory into a world in which magic exists and wreaks havoc on the life of unsuspecting people. But within what remains of the spell that touches both their lives, Amory and Soyer may just find love.

I really liked the world building in the series and I'm exciting that there's a book 3 coming out next month.
