Canadian Maritimes Road Trip: Cape Breton Island

Cape Breton Island is freaking gorgeous. Even in a damn near hurricane.

We drove along sections of the Cabot Trail, including the parts in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The famous Skyline Trail was closed because of the strong winds and it rained off and on most of the day so we limited our out-of-car sightseeing to short walks and hikes just off the road.

Pitcher plants on a short bog walk. I love a good carnivorous plant.

Waterfall on the longest hike we did (1.6 miles).

The power was still out when we left the next morning but it was still a great trip.
