What I'm reading

A Dangerous Collaboration - Deanna Raybourn

Book 4 of the Veronica Speedwell Mystery series, which I’m still obsessed with. Veronica is invited to a Cornish island house party under the pretense of viewing a rare butterfly, agreeing to pose as the fiancée of Lord Templeton-Vane, whose friend Malcolm Romilly owns the estate. The central mystery involves Rosamund, Malcolm's bride who vanished on their wedding day three years prior without a trace. As Veronica investigates alongside her colleague Stoker, she discovers that all the guests are potential suspects, with danger escalating when a murderer strikes again.

I enjoyed the mystery in this book. It opens with Veronica and Stoker in the middle of a nasty fight and it’s all because they want each other and are in love with each other but both of them refuse to admit it or take any action (or just take each other). This was a little tedious—just bang already, kids—and they spend most of the rest of the book agonizing and antagonizing each other with their feelings they refuse to admit.

They work it out by the end (though they still don’t bang in this book) but at least they admit they want to bang.
