What I'm reading
An Unexpected Peril - Deanna Raybourn

January 1889. Newly inducted into the Curiosity Club, natural historian Veronica Speedwell investigates the death of mountaineer Alice Baker-Greene and concludes it was murder, not an accident. Before she and her partner Stoker can act, the exhibit's patron, Princess Gisela of Alpenwald, vanishes as Europe teeters on the edge of war. Gisela's chancellor persuades Veronica—who bears a striking resemblance to the princess—to impersonate her and protect a fragile peace treaty, plunging Veronica into unwanted advances, assassination attempts, and a royal family that has never acknowledged her.
There’s not much I can say about this one that won’t spoil the best parts of it. It did give me an idea for a new book, though I have no idea when I’ll get around to writing it.
